Meet Dr. George Collis
George N. Collis, MD, is a double-board certified plastic surgeon in Melbourne, Florida. He was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. He attended Duke University for college and The Ohio State University for medical school. Dr. Collis then trained 9 years in surgical residency at Mayo Clinic in Florida (General Surgery) and Cleveland Clinic in Ohio (Plastic Surgery), and he is board certified by both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Collis is currently the Chief of Plastic Surgery at Health First Holmes Regional Medical Center.
Dr. Collis specializes in both cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery with a special interest in breast reconstruction, breast cosmetic surgery, abdominoplasty, facial cosmetic surgery and body contouring procedures. He performs a wide range of procedures from the simple skin cancer excision to the most complex microvascular transplant reconstructions. He has trained at the top two hospital systems in the world and from leaders in the areas of general and plastic surgery. At Cleveland Clinic, he trained under Dr. James Zins who teaches the national society's facelift course to other plastic surgeons annually. Dr. Collis was also fortunate to be part of Cleveland Clinic's second face transplant surgical team.
Dr. Collis has authored several research publications on general and plastic surgery and has presented at national and international society meetings. He served as Education Chair for the Mayo Fellows Association and served on the Cleveland Clinic Quality Committee for reduction in surgical site infections in implant-based breast reconstructions. He is very experienced and knowledgeable in the specialty of plastic surgery, scoring 98th percentile on the breast section of the written certification exam and 97th percentile overall on his board certifying exam.
Dr. Collis spends plenty of time with all his patients, listening to their desires and questions to understand what it is that each patient wants, working together to reach obtainable goals, and striving for the satisfaction and happiness of each of his patient.
Dr. Collis lives in Melbourne, Florida with his wife of and 4 amazing children. He enjoys many activities outside of medicine including home reconstruction projects, rebuilding his classic car, playing basketball, piano and guitar.
