Facial Masculinization Surgery
Female-to-Male
The goal of facial masculinization surgery is to transform the feminine features of the face to a more masculine appearance.
How should I prepare for facial masculinization surgery?
In preparing for facial masculinization surgery, you may be asked to:
- Get lab testing or a medical evaluation
- Take certain medications or adjust your current medications
- Stop smoking
- Avoid taking aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs and herbal supplements as they can increase bleeding
Facial masculinization surgery is typically performed in a hospital or ambulatory surgery setting, and will likely use general anesthesia. Some additional procedures may be performed on an outpatient basis, depending on the extent of feminization required. These decisions will be based on the requirements of your specific procedure and in consideration of your preferences and your doctor’s best judgment.
