Tummy Tuck | Case Details
A 65 yo woman is shown before and again 12 months after an abdominoplasty. She is 5' 4 1/2 inches tall and 137 lbs, and has 5 children with full term pregnancies. She wanted to be able to fit into normal clothes again, without bulging of her abdomen where it was stretched out from the children. Because of her age she is at increased risk of having a blood clot after surgery so was treated with Lovenox in the postop period for the 2 days she spent in the hospital after surgery. We were also concerned because of a history of back pain, and did not overly tighten her skin so that she would not have to walk "bent forward" after surgery and place additional strain on her back. She is thrilled with her new shape, and interestingly reports that she has had no more problem with her back- perhaps restoring the abdominal muscles has added more support.
