Facelift | Case Details
56 year old mom and busy professional, wanted to restore her youthful appearance. Her procedure is mostly "preventive," consisting of adjusting incipient aging features to prevent gravitational settling, and delay visible aging. Features treated in "BEFORE" photo include upper eyelids (tired appearance before), cheeks (dropped lower with age), corners of upper lip (descent with age), and mild loose neck skin. Results in "AFTER" photo are different on subtle basis. Upper eyelids were surgically opened and lifted 1.5 millimeters for awake appearance. Lower eyelid shadows were softened with "post-septal" fat. Cheeks slightly lifted to reflect light. Corners of lips lifted for pleasant expression. Neck skin smoothed by neck lift (neck-lift) with coaptation of central neck muscle bands (platysmaplasty). She is extremely lean, so no neck fat was removed. Technique for natural rejuvenation of face, eyes, and neck is NOT pulling the skin tight. Pulling aging skin tight creates a fake surgical look, and does not maintain identifying features that define personal identity. The most natural face and neck anti-aging treatment is accomplished by gently re-positioning only the elements of aging. This allows individuals to still appear like themselves, but younger. This logical and respectful treatment approach to aging is especially important for women, who depend so much upon their natural endowment of beauty.
