ASPS Spotlights Aesthetic Surgery at 82nd Annual Meeting

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. - The nation's leading plastic surgeons will convene at Plastic Surgery The Meeting, the annual scientific meeting of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), October 11-15, 2013 in San Diego at the San Diego Convention Center. With an anticipated attendance of more than 4,500, the meeting will feature the latest research, procedures and technologies in the field of cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery. The ASPS is the world's largest organization of board-certified plastic surgeons.
This year's meeting will have a reinvigorated focus on cosmetic surgery with a new two-day session devoted entirely to key aesthetic procedures such as breast augmentation, body contouring, surgical facial rejuvenation and non-invasive treatments. It will also include extended offerings on breast reconstruction, hand, extremity and craniomaxillofacial surgery, and other reconstructive procedures. Highlighting the numerous contributions of South Korean plastic surgeons to the specialty, The Republic of South Korea will serve as the 2013 Honored Guest Nation at the meeting.

Media Photo Op: "Caring for Kids" Benefit Concert - Sheryl Crow Rocks the USS Midway
Grammy Award-winning recording artist Sheryl Crow will perform a private charitable concert to help transform the lives of children suffering from physical deformities through the gift of reconstructive surgery and related healthcare services on Friday, Oct. 11 at 8:30 p.m., at the USS Midway Museum in San Diego. The concert is hosted by The Plastic Surgery Foundation (The PSF) and San Diego-based Fresh Start Surgical Gifts. Television crews will be allowed to record the first 90 seconds of the concert.
Media Event: Patients of Courage: Triumph over Adversity - A 10 Year Celebration
This year marks the beginning of the second decade of the ASPS Patients of Courage: Triumph Over Adversity program honoring patients whose lives were restored through reconstructive plastic surgery and whose charitable actions influence the lives around them. To celebrate this milestone, three extraordinary young patients, and their surgeons, will be the featured guests during a special panel discussion titled, "Patients of Courage - Beyond the Surgery: A 10 Year Celebration," on Saturday, Oct. 12, 8:30 a.m.-9:15 a.m., at the San Diego Convention Center. In addition to the discussion, short videos about this year's honorees will be presented, along with highlights from previous honorees from over the first 10 years. Honorees and their plastic surgeons will be available for interviews.
Exhibit Hall
The Exhibit Hall, open Saturday, Oct. 12 - Monday, Oct. 14, will showcase more than 300 companies featuring products and services including the latest breast implants, biologics, injectable fillers, cosmetics/skin care, and body contouring technologies. This array of exhibitors will bring plastic surgeons up-to-date on cutting-edge products and technologies to better care for patients.
