ASPS & ITN Productions Launch Plastic Surgery News Program With American Society of Plastic Surgeons

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons has joined forces with ITN Productions to create a dedicated news program on plastic surgery.

The aim of the program is to delve deeper into the issues affecting the industry and bring them to life with a look at innovative ways of ensuring patient safety, the collaboration with other parts of healthcare, the research framing the future of plastic surgery, the stigmas attached to surgery, and the positive ways in which the sector is contributing to people's lives - particularly after a serious accident or life threatening illness.

National newsreader Page Hopkins will anchor the program and introduce interviews with key players and features on both the cosmetic and reconstructive sides of plastic surgery.

The program will form a vital communication for the sector ensuring that, like any type of highly skilled surgery, it is considered and supported in the right way.

ITN Productions, the creative hub at ITN, has commissioned the news program. Simon Shelley, Director of Programming, ITN Productions will oversee the editorial and has said:

"We're delighted to be partnering with ASPS, creating content and a voice on the major themes in plastic surgery, but most of all ensuring that the scope of the specialty and the effect it has on people's lives is understood."

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons is keen to showcase the work of leading organizations in the industry. This will bring to life the sector in a unique way and tell the story of thought leaders from across the US.

Michael D. Costelloe, Executive Vice President, ASPS said, "Plastic surgery is a specialty with many facets. Through this program, ASPS aspires to highlight the depth and breadth of plastic surgery and the specialty's broad patient scope, showcase leading-edge technological advancements and, most importantly, demonstrate how plastic surgery has the power to dramatically change lives."

The program will be premiered at Plastic Surgery, The Meeting on the 10-14th October, at McCormick Place West Chicago, Illinois. It will reach all members of the ASPS and key organizations across the healthcare in the US as well as featuring on the ASPS website. It will also be distributed by ITN to their relevant networks including broadcast, titles and publications in healthcare, and beyond.

There is an opportunity for organizations with relevant content to feature in the program. This is by invitation only and for more information please contact Simon Shelley, simon.shelley@itn.co.uk.
