About

Meet Dr. Mark Markarian

Dr Mark K Markarian, MD, MSPH is a Harvard-trained board-certified aesthetic plastic surgeon with extensive surgery experience and a rigorous academic background that have allowed him to create a unique path to find his passion in the field.  Dr Markarian started high school at the age of 11 and college at the age of 15.  He studied Biology and Criminology at the University of California, Irvine, completed his Master of Science in Public Health with a concentration in Epidemiology at Emory University, and then performed clinical research at Yale University. He returned to Georgia to attend medical school, and then completed 6 years of General Surgery training, 3 years of Plastic Surgery training and an additional year of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Fellowship at Harvard University. Following the completion of his training, he became board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.  He is also a candidate member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

While he was honing his skills as a surgeon, Dr Markarian was also an active contributor to the field of plastic surgery, authoring numerous articles and chapters in many prominent journals, as well as presenting clinical research at multiple plastic surgery conferences.  He was also selected to be a reviewer for prominent plastic and aesthetic surgery journals and will be editing and authoring chapters in an upcoming Plastic Surgery review textbook.

He was born in London and grew up overseas in Cyprus, Singapore, and Thailand, before relocating to the US at the age of 10.  Dr Markarian speaks 4 languages – English, Armenian, Arabic, and Greek – and his unique background has allowed him to instantly connect with his patients through an unparalleled appreciation and understanding of diversity.  Feel free to contact Dr Markarian directly via email and refer to his website for further details.

Breast Augmentation

Hello and thank you for your question. Some surgeons decide to stage a breast augmentation and breast lift based on certain breast dimensions which includes the degree of breast lift desired. I personally perform all my breast augmentations and lifts simultaneously in one surgery to limit the potential health risk involved in undergoing general anesthesia multiple times -- a further added benefit is that this prevents the patient from having to pay extra fees for the second surgery. Be sure to seek out a board certified plastic surgeon who specializes in aesthetic plastic surgery, make sure to discuss all the risks involved, and see plenty of before-and-after pictures in women who have a similar breast appearance to yours.
