Prior to surgery, I had baggy, saggy 63 year old tired breasts. Before surgery I was hesitant: was I too old to have a breast reduction? Was I really a good candidate? I had a breast reduction, and now I have lovely perky breasts. I haven’t had this size breasts since I was 13. I'm so sorry to hear about your difficulty losing weight. Liposuction and tummy tuck can be great options in the right patient. The cost generally depends on the overall time involved. And many surgeons offer financing options. I would recommend seeing a board-certified plastic surgeon in your area. He or she can develop a customized treatment plan to fit your goals. Breast cancer reconstruction

It sounds like you've been through quite a lot. Cancer reconstruction can be complicated, as you are finding out, and it's hard to give you any good information without actually seeing you in person. This question is really better answered by your surgeon. He/she understands what's happened so far (e.g. why do you have expanders if you were planning to have flap reconstruction). And don't be afraid to get other opinions! Best of luck to you!

Excision

Tattoo excision is definitely doable, but will leave a scar. For larger tattoos I have done serial excision (i.e. removing a bit at a time) to keep the scar smaller. So keep looking- there are definitely surgeons who can help!
Explant

Hi Kitty! Breast implant illness has not been well-defined, meaning there aren't symptoms or abnormal lab exams consistent among patients. Since we have not yet defined the disease, we also don't know the most effective treatment. If she has thickened capsules, removing these along with the implants may help. If her capsules are very thin, removing them is technically difficult (and carries increased risk) and medically not necessary. I would recommend she schedule several consultations with board-certified plastic surgeons, some who are experts in BII, and some who are not. She will get a wide range of advice that way, and many treatment options. Best of luck to you!

This is a great question, but unfortunately not one that can be answered over the internet. Cost and recovery of surgery depends very much on the exact surgery being performed, and how long it will take. And it's difficult to tell without actually seeing you in person. I highly recommend seeing a board-certified plastic surgeon in your area: you'll find out if the operations you are interested in are even a good option for you, as well as the cost. It's well-worth paying a small consultation fee. Best of luck to you!

Pain killers
Breast ReductionMember Response:
Breast reduction is one of the most common procedures I perform, and I have had several patients manage postoperative pain without narcotics. I perform intercostal nerve blocks to help the first night, and start my patients on Celebrex the day before. So this is certainly an achievable goal. What is your daughter's opinion of having surgery without narcotics? At age 16 she is certainly old enough to be involved in the discussion.

Thank you for your question. I always recommend before seeing a doctor that you first think about what areas you would like to see improvement in. Many patients focus on what procedure they need, but they may actually not be a great candidate for that procedure, or there may be a better option they're unaware of. Once you have an idea of what improvements you are looking for, set up a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon. He or she can make recommendations based on your goals, lifestyle, and budget. Best of luck to you!
Textured teardrop shape and cancer

Really good question. The answer is yes- there is a very rare type of lymphoma called Breast Implant Associated Anaplastic Large Cell Lyphoma. Only about 600 cases have been reported world-wide, meaning the risk is very low. But the cases that have been reports do all seem to be associated with textured implants. The good news is BIA-ALCL is very treatable- removal of the implants and surrounding capsule is often curative. In the meantime, many surgeons (including myself) are using only smooth implants.

Dr. Greer took the time to know me as a person and not just as a patient. She understood what I wanted and did not try to convince me into anything more. It was nice and comforting knowing Dr. Greer was there at my side before going into surgery and after waking up. And the pain was MUCH LESS than I expected! I am very happy with my procedure and would highly recommend Dr. Greer to anyone!
Over time I saw signs of aging creeping in on me. I have tried fillers in the past but I knew I wanted something more permanent. I was hesitant about having a facelift and coming out looking like Joan Rivers; I didn’t want to look entirely different, and I was reluctant about how painful it would be. All of my questions were answered after my first consultation, and as I thought of more questions, Dr. Greer answered those questions as well. She really did an excellent job of letting me know what to expect at all phases of recovery. I had a face lift, neck lift, and fat grafting to the face. Now the lines I had are gone! My skin feels tight again, and my face and neck look 100% better. And the pain was minimal. People have commented if I did something different to my hair, or asked if I changed my makeup or beauty products. Some just have said I look refreshed. I highly recommend it; every woman needs to feel good about herself. Women/moms put themselves last, especially when kids are younger; at some point we deserve to be number one.
I have been coming to the Mentor office even before Dr. Greer took over and have been so pleased with the staff and their customer service. When Dr. Greer took over I was a little skeptical but after the first visit she put me at ease, and her staff is the best. I would never go anywhere else, and the prices are reasonable.
