Participate in MIPS

Payment adjustments based on a performance period are made two years afterward (e.g. clinicians who submit data during the 2019 performance period will see the adjustment in their 2021 payments).

If you are required or elect to participate in MIPS, you will:

• Collect your performance data for Quality, Promoting Interoperability (PI), and Improvement Activities (IA) throughout the performance period
• Submit your data to CMS
• Receive a payment adjustment (positive, neutral, or negative) based on your performance

Performance periods last for a full calendar year (January 1 - December 31), but not all categories require 12 months of data collection.
