Medicare Payment Policy

CMS has released resources to prepare physicians for the 2024 Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) performance year.

Important Dates

  • January 1, 2024: 2024 MIPS performance year begins
  • December 31, 2024: The MIPS EUC Exception application is available until 8 PM ET.
  • January 2, 2025: MIPS Submission window opens
  • March 31, 2025: MIPS submission window closes at 8 PM ET
  • Early Summer 2025: MIPS Final Scores available
  • Summer 2025: Payment Adjustment information available
  • January 1, 2026: PY 2024 Payment Adjustments go into effect

Reporting Information

  • You'll need to submit collected data for at least six quality measures (including one outcome measure or high-priority measure in the absence of an applicable outcome measure) or a complete specialty measure set.
  • New for 2024: Beginning with the 2024 performance period, you'll need to report performance data for at least 75% of the denominator-eligible cases for each quality measure (data completeness), which is an increase from the previous data completeness threshold of 70%.
  • You can submit measures from different collection types to fulfill the requirement to report data for at least six quality measures.

ASPS QCDR

  • Based on low participation and mounting costs tied to ongoing CMS requirements, the ASPS/PSF Executive Committee made the difficult decision to sunset the ASPS-QCDR following the 2022 performance year (ending Spring 2023).
  • What does this mean for the 2023 Performance Year and Beyond?
    • No member will be able to register via the ASPS-QCDR for the 2023 PY and Beyond.
