PAIRe: Private and Academic Initiative for Research and Education

PAIRe seeks to develop opportunities for research and innovative academic exchange between private practices and academic institutions. The focus of the program is improving patient outcomes, publishing research from private practices and enhancing resident education and experience.

More than 50 percent of ASPS members are private practitioners, comprising a diverse group of plastic surgeons who perform a multitude of procedures with limited time or bandwidth for data extraction, research or publication. Plastic surgery residents require and/or desire scholarly activity that may exceed the offerings of their academic institution and, therefore, often seek alternative research sources and work experiences.

PAIRe is the bridge that connects private practitioners with academic institutions and residents.

"As the dilution of plastic surgery by other specialties and non-surgeon providers continues, we need a streamlined opportunity to amplify our quality metrics, patient outcomes and innovation through data collection and collaboration across all practice types." – Gregory A. Greco, DO, FACS
