FEDERAL | ASPS Partners with Office on Women's Health for National Women's Health Week
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons proudly partnered with the Office on Women's Health (OWH), a division within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, to celebrate National Women's Health Week (NWHW) from May 14-20, 2017. NWHW is an opportunity to focus on women's health and the variety of medical professionals who care for these patients.
Throughout the week, ASPS celebrated breast cancer survivors and focused on empowering women with information that allows them to make post-mastectomy decisions that are best for their recovery. ASPS highlighted breast reconstruction patient video testimonials on @ASPS_News and also featured a blog post by ASPS member Cristiane Ueno, MD of West Virginia on breast reconstruction coverage by insurance carriers. The Society's advocacy through NWHW is a continuation of its work with the Office on Women's Health to provide greater education on breast reconstruction following the passage of the federal Breast Cancer Patient Education Act.
