More than 1.3 million people had reconstructive plastic surgery procedures in 2000 performed by board-certified plastic surgeons, an increase of 19 percent from 1992, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). Tumor removal, hand surgery and breast reduction were the most frequently performed reconstructive surgical procedures in 2000.
