Dangers of Consumer Fireworks

Each July Fourth, thousands of people, most often children and teens, are injured while using consumer fireworks. Despite the dangers, few people understand the risks associated with fireworks - devastating burns, other injuries, fires, and even death. The Alliance to Stop Consumer Fireworks is a group of health and safety organizations, co-founded by the National Fire Protection Association, that urges the public to avoid the use of consumer fireworks and instead, enjoy displays of fireworks conducted by trained professionals. As a member of the Alliance to Stop Consumer Fireworks, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons hopes you will heed these warnings and help spread this message of summertime safety.
